Before Dental Implants

Getting ready for this treatment doesn’t have to be stressful. A little preparation can make the process smoother and your recovery easier. Here’s what to expect before your procedure and how to prepare:

  • Inform Specialists About Health Concerns: You should let our implant specialists know about any serious health conditions you may have before the treatment, including diabetes or heart problems. A list of all the medications you take on a regular basis, such as insulin and blood thinners, should also be included.
  • Pre-Procedure Maintenance: Ensure you dress in comfortable, loose-fitting clothes like a blouse with short sleeves. Take off your watches, rings, and contact lenses and wear ankle-supporting shoes with flat soles. Abstain from smoking and alcohol consumption for 24 hours.
  • IV Sedation Preparation: Ensure you refrain from eating or drinking anything, including water, at least six hours before your surgery appointment. Drink no more than half a glass of water if you must take medication. Ask a family member or friend to drive you to and from your appointment as well.

Our trusted implant specialists will go over all of your prescriptions and pre-operative instructions with you at your consultation before your treatment. Ask any questions you may have to secure peace of mind and feel prepared!

After Dental Implants

Take Antibiotics: Take any prescribed medications as instructed. Antibiotics can prevent infection. If you experience a rash or other adverse reaction, remember to contact our office for support from our caring team!

Apply Implant Care: For the first two weeks following implantation, ensure you leave your restoration alone, besides maintaining your oral hygiene. Consume soft foods like mashed potatoes, pasta, or mild soups, and try chewing away from the implant area.

Maintain Oral Hygiene: Keep your mouth as clean as possible! Starting the day after surgery, thoroughly wash your mouth after every meal. Use toothpaste and a soft-bristle toothbrush after eating and before bed.

Resume Exercise: Avoid strenuous activity for 48 hours, followed by plenty of rest. After 48 hours you can return to your normal activities as tolerated – just confirm with our specialists!

Feel confident with a robust, beautiful, and healthy smile. Talking among friends, snacking on your favorite foods, or just grinning in front of the mirror can feel seamless after implants. Get in touch with our trusted team to book your consultation today!
